Our food philosophy

Good food is good for your heart and soul. Good food is made of pure local ingredients and eaten together with family and friends.

Good food is homemade food eaten without hurry, enjoying every bite.

Good food fills your stomach, gives energy to your day - and makes your journey better.

Alone or together, during fishing trip or when passing by

You are welcome to our restaurant as you are. When you are busy in your business trip. When you are on a vacation with your friends. With your fishing trousers or summer shorts. Alone or together with your ten children.

Our menu contains fresh and satisfying doses for every hunger. Take a quick break and eat a burger or sit late with your friends. Our terrace is open until noon.

Fresh ingredients from local producers

DEGREE OF DOMESTICITY OF OUR FOODS

Up to 90% of the ingredients used in our restaurant are domestic.

For example, fish, meat and various cold cuts and sausages are domestic.

The berries are domestic and we use the products of our own garden as far as possible.

Breads and cereal products also come from Finland.

As foreign ingredients, we mainly buy materials that are not cultivated in Finland. Examples are lemons and sweet potatoes.

MEAT - FRESH FROM MÄNTYHARJU

In our steaks, for example, we use the meat of the Kuvala meat farm. The farm is located about 40 km from our restaurant, in Voikoski in Mäntyharju.

The local food farm, which received the Best of the Regions award in 2010, produces e.g. tender grain pig. We make this minced meat into our own popular chiliburger steaks in our own kitchen.

We also use domestic meat in other food portions; for example, a house burger is made in our kitchen from domestic meat.

FISH - FROM THE LOCAL FISHERMAN TO THE DINING TABLE

The salmon in our restaurant comes from the selections of the Kuortin kala company. The entrepreneur fishes the fish himself in the nearby waters, and we always pick up a dose of fresh fish once a week or a couple of times a week.

Because we want to offer our customers salmon only fresh, food portions containing salmon are always available from us for a few days after picking up the fish.

DOMESTIC VEGETABLES - FINNISH QUALITY

We use domestic vegetables in our food whenever they are available.

For example, tomatoes, cucumbers and lettuce purchased from a local wholesaler are always domestic and, where possible, are purchased from the product ranges of local producers.

BERRIES AND FRUIT - FROM LOCAL BERRY FARMS

The berries we use in pastries, desserts and breakfast are collected from the nearby forests ourselves or purchased from nearby berry farms.

In late summer, we have a joint jam-making day, when we jam the summer harvest and canning it for the coming summer - so you can taste our homemade jam in our Swiss roll, for example.

Apples from our own garden also end up as delicacies for our customers - we bake apple pies from them, and some of our apples are jammed for the next season.

DAIRY PRODUCTS - FINNISH FAVORITES AND NEIGHBORHOOD SPECIALTIES

The milks and yoghurts and other dairy products on our menu are generally always domestic.

Our ice cream selection includes plenty of Finns' favorite flavors made in Finland.

For salads, we buy both domestic cheeses and specialty cheeses from nearby producers.
